Hey did anyone actually watch W’s broadcast last night. I normally feel a sense of civic duty to at least listen to what my commander and chief has to say. But I have to admit that listening to H. Stern last night seemed a whole lot more appealing than hearing the term “surge Baghdad” being said a hundred times. Plus honestly what’s the point of having a televised broadcast to supposedly present an issue, when you had all your cronies handing out the talking points of what your going to say for the previous two days (probably more like a week, but I am giving the benefit of the doubt). Is there an advantage of having everyone know what you are going to present before you present it.
Well if anyone did catch the primetime display of authority, let me know what you find out. Well other than 20,000 more American teenagers/early twenty-somethings are getting screwed over. And don’t forget it’s not like we found an extra 20,000 people willing to fight. All we are doing is forcing a few thousand soldiers to stay there longer then we told them they would have to, and forcing a few more thousand to head over there earlier than planned. Oh, and did he mention if the later group have to increase there time over there (I mean if you where told you were going over there for 6 months and they send you 2 months early, does that mean you get to come home 2 months earlier, or do you have to stay for 8) I doubt he mentioned those details, but I am going to assume the later.
