Big news: Vortman, others: the house next to my apartment, the infamous 5034 Willows (West Philadelphia), is about to go back 'up for rent' in West Philly. My cool neighbors have decided to move into new quarters in the neighborhood (long story), and I am desperately hoping to replace these cool neighbors with new cool neighbors, rather than some boring a-holes. I mean, Kris filling the house across the street with womyn was sweet, but 5034 Willows--that place is the bomb!
I think the rent is now $1300 per month..which breaks down to approx $325 per month per person, which is nearly as cheap as one can find in Philly....4 bedrooms (one is kind of small as you will recall), plus that heady basement known as "Stupe". Krusty was kicking around the idea of moving to Philly but it might take some arm twisting...if anyone on this board knows anyone looking for residence, let me know STAT cuz its a sweet house that will surely get rented soon....for anyone reading this, email me at unoclay@hotmail.com if you need my phone #...

We shouldn't lose that house! I vote that everyone who wants to help with the emerging Degicank art scene in West Philly, pitch in $50 a month and not only will you get the best venue for outlaw art and rebel music, you will get a free email address with Degivisuals.com as well as free Ad space for up to a year on Degivisuals.com!
Musicians! Artisans! this is a good idea! Lets take an awesome house and make it better better better!
what do y'all think?!?!

Yo, the only problem with that concept is that the landlord can be strict about stuff, i.e., you'd actually need to have 2-3 people willing to sign the lease. The current tenents are leaving because after 3 years she started to "hassle" them about stuff....
in my opinion, the landlord is no worse or better than other landlords ive had. She upped the rent from 1100 to 1300, which pissed off the tenents, and then gave them shit about having 2 dogs living there (the lease says no pets, so it wasnt like they werent warned). Not to take the landlords side entirely though......she's has no tact in addressing issues that could be better handled, but this is a common problem with landlords IMHO.
Anyway, James lives in CA, Caleb just signed a new lease, so that leaves Vort and Krusty, who i am already talking to. Basically this means if they were gonna do it, they may need 2 more folks. And Krusty is by no means a real factor here, since he has a decent job in SC that might keep him locked in for a few more months, minimum.....
hard to say. Vortman has expressed interest. It would be great if we could find someone else to board with him. The timing of this is SO shitty, since tDS just rented their place, and i suspect that 5034 would be better for band practice space....

anyone know how to make fake people? We could hire actors to pretend they are the real tenants, fake thier information and then use it as degicank communal space as I had previously mentioned.
So...does any know a good counterfitter? We need driver's license, social security #, and past employment records as well as current employment records.
Who's in?
:-)

Steve if you are still interested, let me know. This house is perfect for musicians and is really nice taboot. Finding a crew of 4 peeps might be the challenge, but I have a few resources if you are willing to live with new folks (i.e. non degicankian/unos)....

clay, yes i'm still interested, i'm working on landing a job on the main line teaching piano, so the timing for this is good, i need to find a roof over my head. i don't mind living with people i don't know as long as they're cool, meaning they want to create a positive, inspiring, communal home scene, filled with music, potuck dinners, parties, jam sessions, art, and free expression.
do you know of any temp work opportunities around philly? where i could atleast work to pay the bills until i land something more along my lines of interest and life purpose. i will email you my # right now. -steve

Steve is out it sounds like, he thinks he has other plans for moving. And vort is talking about moving in with you in an artspace? so i think we're back to "need 4"
If anyone wants it, we'll have to move really quickly because the landlord is already showing it to prospective move-ins
