No problem, lets hope for 16/17 or 23/24. We had talked about trying to get a show near Josh's in those weekends actualy those thursday/fridays because I have my school break then. Maybe we can play a show thursday night in philadelphia then head up here friday, sat (i'm thinking of shelfing the show up here in exchange for more practise time) record sun. Please just let us know as soon as you find out. This gives us at least 2 more weeks to work on the stuff. Josh has been practicing nonstop with the demo kets and tracks from our rehearsal, I'm trying to get some fancy bass together and drawing some diagrams with sections, solos, and different dynamics stuff(ie quiet, jam, banjo slead, guitar lead) . This is headed in the jamgrass direction so it is important that we are doing improv. It involves risks, but the energy will be greater, and unpredictable. That said, as much preperation and "parts" we have for ourselfs in our arsenal will help shape and bring it on home when an energy boost is needed. I think maybe I am on a different page about the kets? I made "ketmix" files that have a basic framework, I relized if you were working from the raw kets a framework would be missing. I saw lady in the water last night and i swear in the bonus material the speacial effects guy said the first draft monsters were called kets. M night works outa the same building as one of the artist that submited a song for dreams. Also I swear I heard ket5 on Living on earth in between stories this morning. We havre to move before the mainstream guys start copying us. Anyhow the ket mixes and some other of the tracks that made it through the elimination rounds nov-jan are at www.esnips.com/web/Banjo-Jones-and-Bear-BonesSOUP IT UP! Also if you will let us do that singing song, and g jam and caleb probably has a trick or two up his sleeve and muffinjugs, onemanbandjamchowder, lalal and see if -_-_-_-_-_ is doable.... I'll try to get something new in the way of a demo together soon, school is killing me, work is horrible, and my computer is in the shop, so that is slowing me down. I'll make a just Bass and click track next, maybe we can have a virtual practice that way. I don't know if you have have been watching the ship go down here, but if all goes well and I can move a few more shares then you'll get paid $111/hour for the 2 hours in the studio. minus expenszes of course (bean counters). After we get done recording though we'll ship the masters to the southwest desert and have 1000 cds in nice cases full color with 4 panel print. We'll need to sell them at 5$ a pop to keep the share holders happy. If this presents ethical dilemas please give me a call so I can beg you to go along with it. This "master plan" will produce over 30 months 3000 b&B's, and 5000 free sample cd's which will promenatly have a b&B track. I'll send you the latest plan as soon as I type it up... **************************************** [glow=red,2,300][/glow][/size]

Hello eveyone. I had an inexplicable ray of knowledge shoot through my eyes this morning and melt into my heart. I thought I might share. You see my whol lifeI have been combating what the truth is and the ultimate answer to the "ultimate" question. In doing this, I sometimes believed that i lived in a concentric universe, creating all things, and when I died, the universe died...leaving an unlimited path of possibilities, but only allowing a very provincial perspective.
I also at times believed that destiny ruled the world and we are mere pawns in a much higher picture....that no matter what we do, fate will rule it's gavel and presume life to be "what it is." This gave the world a freedom without fear, but it also lead do a doom of personal unimportance....I mean selfish unimportance....and don't give me that you die for a greater cause crap, cuz we are all human, so you know what I mean.
But....
Today I believe neither of these things. Today I believe that neither belief, fact, or faith is the answer. I know, I just contradicted myself....which has a quirky truthfulness to itself on its own. But, like I said not even fact (truth) is the answer. Today, while I wretched all night from staying out the night before drinking in the cold while sick....today while I sit on my bed with a pile of balled up snot ridden toilet paper at my feet....today while I think about the inevitable and hope at the same time....today I know that there are no words in our language to describe this "answer", but a small twang of content, NOT truth, belief, or will, but just an indescribable peacefulness of friendship, love, hatred, and death made me realize that no matter what we hang on to to live in this world, it is far LESS important than actually just living in this world.
This is not fate or inevitability or facing fears...it is not transcendental progression...it is to put it simply, just another day in a crazy world that is always utterly surprising.
Just thought I'd share something I started mulling over one minute before I wrote this post.

clay told me to make a bass/banjo ket, so i strapped on the old bass. i havent kept up with my bass playing the last 2 years, and my strings havent been changed in probably twice as long. so there are some timing issues in there, i just played through it for ket drafting purposes. joe dont know if youre into slapping . the bassline is a souped up version of a song my friend justin and i wrote/used to jam on called "The Creeper", sounds a lot different but based on it. changes are G > Em. but i forgot to tune up my bass before recording (hasnt been tuned in 2 years!)... i mean, i tuned it to itself, but when i got ready to put banjo over, it was about a halfstep (give or take) low, so i just tuned the banjo to the bass ... long story short, its suppposed to be G > Em...but is more like F#> D#m. just a sketch. anyway, heres the clip: www.mediafire.com/?2twegmjgzytthe lyrics song from a few pages back, i submit, is a no-go. its sounds uber cheesy, i refuse to play it, sing it. i think we should stick to instrumental for the most part... consider the lyrics an expression of me being inspired by our first practice session the idea of having high quality cds printed with booklets/cases all pro sounds really cool. i dont know if 1000 is about 950 too many, but hey, whatever....you guys have the master plan on that tip apparently. i have no specific "ethical issues" with it, but i sort of hate excessive "promotion" and advertising/marketing. i think it degrades artistic merit somewhat, espeicially if not done tastefully... although i realize that it is a necessary evil when selling is involved. i vote that we do not spam the f*** out of every myspace we can sucker into "adding" us... if we record the album and it sounds awesome, that would yeild much more confidence in marketing... ya dig? thats my take on it. lets not rush in on the selling before the music is realized. the whole descartes/ deshorse issue. i REALLY LIKE the idea of selling the discs for 5$. a very reasonable price, without a doubt. also, i would not like to "get onstage" infront of people/audience without having worked things out more. playing our friends party or something, would be awesome, but going on stage type thing, not till we have our shit together a little more, which comes as a direct result of playing together more. joe, i very much like your idea about it being very improv based, but with some structure here and there, some melodies and some lauching pads, some In and some Out... if we can get a lot of good recordings down with some definite songs, etc, and also allocate some recording time, just for free form, open jamming, and just record a whole lot of stuff, then pick through and grab out good segments for the final mix. thats what Page did when creating Siket Disc, i think its a good strategy. i know the status has not changed, but i also wanted to just say that i am still skeptical about how the narraration will sound, definitly leaving open the idea that it will be really cool and worth having on the album, but also a little worried that it will taint the whole thing if it comes off too corny/hokey. no offense intended to the clay bros. i 100% realize that i am but a player in this game of many, just wanted to put my 3 cents in. can of vorcan said: "This is not fate or inevitability or facing fears...it is not transcendental progression...it is to put it simply, just another day in a crazy world that is always utterly surprising." i dig what you are saying and sort of agree. "fate' implies predestination, which i think is a highly flawed concept.. just like "free will"... and just like "I" or "the self"...transcendental progression is Romantic, but a little romanticism now and then can be inspiring , albiet slightly dellusional. there is some taoistic resonance with your post, that i like. flow of input/output... sense of suprise/wonder... ok, this is getting far too headily longwinded... not to mention off topic. peace out mynock eaters, nic

Hey let me be the first to post and say that Nic, "The Creeper 2.0 / slaphappy ket" is waaaay awesome. The changes are some of my favorite kind of changes. Your bass playing is, in spite of rustic unpracticedness, awesome. I will call you mr. Col. Bruce Brownstein. I will call you "A New Hope". I will call my friends on the telephone and tell them to download the file because it holds a nugget of truth and hope for Mr. jones to escape from the evil skeleton.
SO..the award of the week/end goes to Nic Coker. Previous award winners have been Joe for his work on the financial aspect. Nic, really for real, thanks so much for pushing this agenda with new music--and good new music. I didnt know if you would have time to accept the mission but you came back like Rambo. I will try and get Caleb to hear it tonight so its in his head, maybe make a mixdown onto his 4-track so he can play along. Technical difficulties might be a challenge.
So lets ALL pencil in March 16 or March 23 as the weekend of VT session. I will also communicate this to Caleb. He reassures us that he is flexible regarding work and time off. Do we know if Josh needs to bring drums to VT?
Caleb and I were scouting South Street this past weekend, wondering about sales opportunities. We might feel confident that achieving the minimum # of $5 sales might be doable. We saw other people doing it. Might take a lot of work but it could be fun. Perhaps Chris Cank or Dr. C will help when the time comes.

I will always be at Degicank's aid when the need arises.
Clay, if you like, come over today and we can get that video digitized. Sorry I have been lame...I'm still sick, but well enough to get some work done.

I dumped aim about a week after i started it in jan. It slows down the computer, and slows down me working on the computer. ************** AWESOME KET MAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Throw down some more! **************** WE're going to have 2 hours in the studio, we need to reserve a significant amount of minutes for databurning, set up and tear down, so were gonna have to have a some what coherant plan, if we have some good structured plays/kets, then we will hopefully have a nice chunk of time left for improv improv, or improv on previous ideas. Remeber, this is only B&B: The Begining, we will move forward, we just need to take the first step into a larger world.

Re: selling in downtown Phila, i'd probably take your advice into account and only leave the car with 5 in tow at a time. This means that when i return to car i will dump the $ and retrieve more discs. Worst damage would be $25 which i could cover. I also imagine once the outdoor concert season starts it will be fun to hit Penns Landing and Spectrum areas and canvas the lots. Remember how many PBRs we sold at Jimmy Buffett? BB will make that look like cupcakes.
Regarding Narration, I think we can continue to have a 'lets wait and see' approach. One comment from my angle: i definitely think that <any> narration should be accompianied by music, i.e. mixed into track. And given the length of just Narration Pt.1, i dont think there is any feasible way that more than small snippets of the narration could be included--i.e. part one is like 5+ minutes, and part 2 might be longer. Part III remains to be seen.
Joe i kind of imagined echoes of Ro9ceover being transposed into/underlying the music. Is it possible to do the studio recording, and then come up with some demonstrations of what it might sound like with narration? This might = too much work, so its not a must.
