Ok very busy at work this week so only a moment to comment.
I am totally fine with Dreams (disc 2) being webbased or otherwise. It would probably work better in terms of a lot of the ideas being recorded differently. Cank please make that mashup with the random feel. I liked it enough that we should capitalize on random inspiration.
I could not find freakshow v.1 on that website, only 3. If you found something that works, I agree with it, no qualifications. I will reimburse for cost of loop.
As far as royalties for this project, I have a sneaking suspicion that it will be the last of our worries. However maybe I will be wrong. I am a very unconcerned person about these kind of things and so i will let it be known that it will "be all good" from my perspective.
I will try to make it a priority to create some kind of comic storyboard for BB/BJ. I tried to do some more work on it last night and couldnt get very far due to the chronic of cank. I have a train ride tomorrow during which I might be able to scribble something out. However i cannot draw at all, so I will do my best with my limited abilities, then pass it along to VorCan for a 2nd pass. Maybe Vegas would like to intermingle as well.
If the storyboard is used for nothing more than conceptual inspiration for the musicians, it will be worth the time. I will try to have this accomplished by next week Monday, however it might get complicated due to a lot of travel between then and now.
I will also try to listen and comment to the tracks posted to Esnips.
thanks everyone for all the dedication! Josh, your job is to just keep your hands nimble. We discussed your role during the Octogon v.1 planning session and it was agreed that "Josh must come to Vermont for recording, that is his big job."

Chris and Nic, I don't have speakers at school but I look forward to hearing your remixs, I listened to the original octogon 20 times last night. Clay relax and take your time, we've still got 3 weeks of phase 2.
I'm realy inspired by the GBb+DEF thing, I think it might be the part where B. Bones first apears, it can be changed to a different key. Hey if you folks want DREAMS to be disc 2 thats ok, its hard to find a diplomatic balance here in the intrenet. That royalty freefreaks song is probably not realy needed, we'l do that stuff in house.
sounds good to me sounds good to me sounds good to me!

Hey if i chill out too much it will be on the backburner and then no progress will be made!!! Must push up to the day or something like it brahski!!!! So last night i took my medication and worked on some really simplistic visual storyboards for the tale of Mr. Jones and his cohort Bones. They are funny but not advanced (black and white cutouts). I still dont exactly know where to go with the Dreams section. I sort of envision it being like a flashback/montage/captain-visuals-infused section, something along the lines of the rendered videos done by Bill and others. If 'Dreams' will be an internet based project/accompniament (i like this idea, rather than disc 2), then perhaps someone else could make a video-montage of items to be encapsulated in the 'dreams' section. So, for example... --i/we create a storyboard-freezeframe thing accompianied by Ro9ceovers. This will play on the internet. -- when it gets to the section where Bare Bones kind of takes over Jones' mind, we could interject this crazy pastiche ("pastishe") of video...probably not done by me, something along the lines of the Kinder-Pat-Panang-Old-Fat-Lady-Runs-Down-The-Stairs-To-Meet-The-Devil video (which i love). This section could incorporate music from the Album, or more likely, Dreams Remixes et all. --The CD jacket/liner notes would have a line: Visit www.degicank.org/DREAMS to get the full picture of 'what happened' --people log on and get to see 'Disc 2' I would need help from video-people for the making of the crazy Dreams montage. This is mainly b/c i dont have a computer on which to do this kind of thing. All submissions would be great, im thinking even using quick clips of past videos (Joe NYE video, Tom wandering around video, cartoons, etc). I can upload still shots of the basic storyboard for consideration. Another factor for this part is the PopUp book that Vorcon may design, perhaps this will all come together. Nic and Canker i will check out your music contributions but I know i will love them.....awesome progress going on.

Here is another track while I am on a roll...not sure where this could be used unless Bear Bones or Pat Panang ride in a futuristic skyscraper industrial elevator...or the elevator near the end of "Aliens". It was made in Reason and mixed in Abelton Live. Anyways...here it is: www.degivisuals.com/degicank/thecityelevator.mp3

BTW, the Bear's Dream i posted was the extended version...when it fades out the first time, that is the end of the radio edit and probably what would make the Dreams disc.

Ok folks...I wasn't sure when I would have the time to make more music with so much VORCAN stuff to do, so I made one more track and now I am going to have to work on other VORCAN related material. This one is a remix of two tracks from the pot for panangs section of econocank as well as some new beats and bleeps from Reason...mixed in Abelton Live. Here: www.degivisuals.com/degicank/pat_panang_lands_on_planet_vorcan.mp3

joe et al, i listen to some of new tracks... sound good, 1-5 defintly have potential. one thing, since the tracks are in wm format, i cant drag em into garage band or itunes. that would be a quick way for me to be able to just toss a hypothetical layer on it. if you have the mp3 files, you could up them via www.sendspace.comthey were all good, i especially liked 3 (C>Gm), and 5 (D>Am)... then 5 had the crazy jam section in there, which was kinda reminiscent of parts of the octagon muffin jam. that sort of tangent could be recurring . you could do a track that was bass and strumming guitar or something. or just bass... and i'll try to play some banjo over it. maybe you could use a low metronome or something atleast for a few bars. or make it where we could remove the metronome track later or something, or add more drums..... just some thoughts. nic

Hey there,
So everything is going super-productive here in the Philadelphia. We witnessed a Red Rocket show on Saturday night that owned faces. After this, we adjourned to 5036 Willows for a presentation of the Nintendo Wii, a big party, and a prototype Banjo Jones slide show. We also worked on the first attempt at an 'action action' movie, Kelleher will have to put these into circulation. I particularly liked the Cricket/Coconut/Pakistani Horse film. This could be savored for the BB/BJ Dream-Film section. Can we get this archived onto digital for addition to the 'master movie'?
Which is what brings me to my point. I created this slideshow on Nintendo Wii, that will be part of the bigger picture, but due to some trickery and non-transferable-platform issues, I cant get the slideshow off of the Wii.
however i can get the still shots off of the Wii into my computer, which I am completing tonight. Is there a simple free program for creating a slide show that can be saved on the internerd (i.e. and then placed into the BB/BJ website)? If anyone knows of this program, hit me up with the link. Other than that, I could send all of the individual slides via email and someone could attach music to them (Kelleher, i think some of the tracks you dreamed up would be perfect).
I would like to make a slide show myself with timings and flashes of other stuff (cartoons, friends, etc). I just need a recommendation to some freeware, or perhaps access to a computer that has the appropriate programs (photoshop to mod photos and a slide show creator). Kelleher I could come to you when you have time. I know you are painting at Ortleibs tonight and I will be out of town the rest of the week but will be back for Friday--Weekend.
Other good news for the project: Ro9ce agreed to be the narrator for any of the internet sections. His exact comment was, "Give me a fuggin skript, and I will have a narration in a whip-snap". So thats a ball in my court, ive got to give Royce a big series of verbal sound byte narration cues, and he will begin recording them.
Scott Neidig called me tonight and expressed potential interest in getting Sam Smith (see: Econocank) and others involved in some extra-ciricular recording for BB/BJ internet Dreams. This is not definite but is something potentially in the works. We're talking noise, we're talking bass and banjo here. Scott, keep jumping higher you crazy demon character, and it will all work out.
Finally, Nic/Caleb/Josh, any input on a potenial get-together for either Friday/Saturday/Sunday? Another session would be sweet.

Hey there,
Just getting a chance to go through the ESnips clips. These are great! Nic/Joe we need to get these into a format that Nic can record on for sure. I think this virtual practice session could be super valuable, especially for the January session going smoothly.
Is there anything I can do to help get these into the correct format for garage band? I know Thor uses that program a lot...
