Hey there,
finished listening to all tracks. Nic is right, the first several are 'most potential', but my favorite is 10 06 Track 6.wma (bottom of second page). I think this could easily make it onto the album in a group format, its got the right sensibility of Quirk and Plunk and Jam and Song.
Now it is bedtime!1!!!!11! Put on my pajamas...

No, i have windows 2000 professonal and its on my work computer which doesnt allow me to update anything or install programs. I dont have my own computer b/c i dont have internet at home (i use my neighbor's signal a little bit on my work computer). Yes i know im in the stone age but i dont really feel like adding another bill or point of constant technology in my life (hard to explain but having a work-dependant computer keeps me sane somehow).
So anyway no i dont have the program.
I am still in for either of these dates. I hope Josh gives you a positive response b/c i dont talk to him that often. Caleb seems flexible, i will keep after him....

I believe the post above mine was a suggestion of lyrics for the album. I told her we dont know if there will be any lyrics at all, but she was certain that these ones might inspire the practices.
Nic, I dont know if you have headed to AL for the holidays, but I would be glad to host another practice session if you havent. Although I suspect this is a futile idea since you will most likely have shipped out by the time you read this.
In any case, we definitely need to make a goal of 2 more practices before the VT trip, if for no other reason than to continue the familiarity of your style and Caleb. If you are in the area for the weekend pre-Christmas (or just want to come up on one of the upcoming weeknights), we would be game for it. There are shows Tuesday and Wednesday, but we could easily fit something in.
Otherwise we'll have to shoot for after Christmas or the New Year. Maybe a practice session could happen at the 30th party?
I have been working on some vocals for Royce (for the online movie version). I will email him directly so we can get a test case of how this will work. They are far from complete but we could get a microphone check.

I think we should have royce's narration on the main audio disc. Do you have more script?
Thanks for the kank.
I've got one more batch of demos to send us up, we've got to settle on chord progressions in the next couple of weeks, hopefully before your next session.
Take care and have a great Solstice, I'm done school on fri, I'll be posting the latest and might have time for one more nother batch of demos before NYE. I just got my work schedule and unfortunetly won't be in Philadelphia area this time around, Bill and Priar should be representing though and possibly old mad James.

hi all, project nice from looks of this post. i'm especially enjoying /pat_panang_lands_on_planet_vorcan.mp3.
update on possible s smith collaberation. we were not able to secure recording time by the time sam left for holiday in PA. just so's you are aware. we talked about it and tried, both agreeing that more stuff like this should be organized and executed, but no swing swing on the thru thru.
thank you, jumping chow chow binks

I have sent a preliminary text to Royce for his consideration (2 days ago) but have not heard back from him yet. He ensured me that he will be able to complete the item i.e. get a microphone, so we shall see. In the interest of 'full disclosure' i am going to post the first draft of the first section of narration in the next section of this thread. I am very open to criticism and editing of these items. I told royce to do 2 takes minimum on this stuff but he is his own MAN, MAN, so he might not listen. Also, he might not even do it if he doesnt want to; that is another example of 'free will'.
Nic i hear ya on the lamehenge, although i am a fan of these kind of things if they are kept to a minimum or tasteful. Also keep in mind that lots of people really like that kind of conceptual continuity/narratological stuff...us elitists arent the only folks with an asshole or an opinion, as i am always trying to tell you you objectivist thinker.
Anyway these are only concepts at this point, Joe is master production and final edit man, so we will all bang our gavels to no avail because 'what he says, does' in the end.
So nic i will count you out for any kind of practice at/before the NYE-E party. I am going to work with Caleb to get something going in the meantime.

::imagine a dark, empty, blank space in front of you. You are Ken Nordien, speaking in a black disembodied hole. You are Johnny Cash in a dark forest, talking to an audience of one.. Kind of hillbilly inflection, but don’t overdo it::
Gather ‘round, children, squeeze in close together now—there’s room for everyone by the fire—and pay me close attention as I tell you the tale of two wandering spirits . . .of two old friends indeed! . . . I’ll tell you the story of two creatures—one dark, one light--who’s names you’ve never heard before.
::with a slight grin in your voice::
It’s a cold night here in the forest, isn’t it? Thanks to this roarin’ fire, we’ll probably <just manage> to avoid freezing to death. . . . . .
:more seriously now, hesitantly::
But this campfire is good for more than keeping off the chill, believe it, children.
:pause for spooky effect:
Children tend to know to trust their instincts. You young folk don’t have a lot of muck and nonsense up in yer heads, cloudin’ your vision and makin’ yeh miss the obvious signs and symbols that the world might be tryin to show yeh. For instance, this forest all around us here. There isn’t anything we can see to be afraid of, yet I see that yer all somewhat inclined to crowd around this here fire, as though it could protect yah from whatever lurks around us in the darkness…..
:crescendo:
As though a meager pile of hardly-burnin’ logs could keep whats out there off our backs. . . .!
:lower:
I think yer right to trust yer instincts, friends.
:pause:
I don’t say these things to frighten you children. From the looks on your faces, I’d say I don’t need to try at all to scare yeh another bit. These woods speak loud enough, I think, especially for young folks who know how to pay attention to the hidden spirits. No, I’m telling you these things ‘cause I think its my job to warn you about what happened in these woods, out here in the darkness of this very forest, almost in this exact spot where we’ve made our camp, not so many years ago.
The names of the folken who wandered here was Banjo Jones. He, unlike you, was an old man, wise with many years upon the earth. It is common knowledge that as a man grows in age, that man will come to believe that he has seen it all, that there is nothing left which could amaze him or turn him from his destined path. Banjo Jones was like most others in this respect, having lived his whole life within the confines of this forest. He’d shivered through the coldest winters, he’d starved through famine and through drought, he’d even fought and killed a bear that once cornered him in his cabin. Now that bear’s skin was a prize coat he wore upon his back. Banjo Jones had survived the trials of his younger age, and felt certain that life had shown him all of its surprises.
It was a night, very much like this one, that taught Banjo Jones how wrong an old man could be.

Oh yuah, also, I am working on the slides for the 'dreams' section of the slideshow. If anyone has any pictures they would like to include in the dreams section (think a cascade of images and pics in rapid fire succession) please send them to me. I kind of imagine this item being a slideshow available online with music accompianying the pictures. Nothing too fancy or too lame either. If Royce narration (or someone else) dont get used on the album then this might be the place for them.
Honestly, if the stuff above is hokey, tell me and i'll change directions and/or scrap!!
