Thanks Tom for correcting our website address, though I don't know why "seal the deal" made that outrageous post. This is the first posting any member or affiliate of alchemy has made. Please ignore anything that says we are playing a certain time slot. We would like to play again this year, if possible. As for us being banned for some reason, I don't know??? If we aren't, we will be glad to donate any equipment we can (we have some small speakers would make nice monitors) along with helping out with the set up as we have the last three years. Let me know. ben@alchemysounds.com. Chris tell me where and when you want to get me a press kit. No reason to waste postage.

Arghh!!! Nobody is banned from Chucks as far as I know! Never heard of such nonsense.
No timeslots are decided yet, we will figure that out in the future based on demographics from the United States Census Bureau.
Bill, I did receive your presskit, thanks!
In August, I'll set up a meeting with anyone who is interested in helping out with the sound, based on the posts here, it looks like we could put together a pretty killer system. We do need some more people to do sound, I know that someone from Dr.Naq voted for Dave Barr, though I have not talked to him yet to confirm, but we will need more than one person, it would be nice to have three or four a night, so no one person gets stuck behind the board the entire time.
Thanks for all your input!
Chris

listen to Tom..., put the stuff on stage, just use it for kick drum and mics. Anything more will be overkill. There is no competion for sound if alchemy doesn't make it a contest so there is no need to blast out the audience's ears. Most people will be down with chiullin and jamming out so please don't make it so loud we scare people away from the stage area.
We owe borderless puzzle bigtime. they first played at chucks in 1999, but last year they got f***ed over. I hope Planet 22 can still get in on a friday night spot. Is this possible?
'This will be p22 10th chucks farm 2 times we were left in borderless puzzles situation.

Chris: I'm pretty sure Naqleus will count on Dave Barr to man the board for at least our set (assuming he's going to be around). Once he's back in PA we'll get him in touch with you to confirm it and see what else he might be willing to do (I can't imagine him not wanting to do all he can, afterall he does love to have and provide a good time).
The Borderless Puzzle situation last year was no fun for anyone involved, especially the members of that band who were the only ones who lost in the end. A few months following the festival, I sent an unrelated e-mail to Josh of the Borderless Puzzle, having forgotten that the Borderless Puzzle was "that band." Long story short, it took a few responses, each of which became increasingly peaceful, but in one message Josh pointed out the lesson learned by going in on this without a contract.
I wonder, have contracts been done for Chuck's in the past? Would it help this year if contracts were used? Even though the acts perform pro-bono, a signed document and a solidified schedule would go a long way to avoid what the Puzzle experienced last year. This of course would be in a perfect world where all bands are there on time, quick about striking their stage, and sober enough to make things flow smoothly. If I were simply accusing others of this then I'd be a hypocrite, just trying to avoid a repeat of last year.

I will talk to Chuck about contracts, but I really don't think it is neccessary. Everything is free and I think with really good communication, like what we are having now, there shouldn't be many problems.
All we can do is set up a schedule well in advance so everyone knows what it is well before Chuck's. So even the people coming to Chucks know what the schedule is before they show up.
We are going to get behind schedule, there will be bands that will show up ready to play that have played in the past that will expect to play and that we have had no communication with all summer.
This stuff always happens, and we will just have to make room in the schedule for it. Having bands play into Sunday evening will definately help.
Some bands will have to play during the afternoon too. As with most festivals. When I went to Bonaroo a few years ago, Antibalas was playing at noon. The key is keeping an audience there to see acts during the daytime or even more importantly, keeping people there so they can just enjoy the daytime at Chucks, which, i feel after going to Chucks since 1999, is the best time to spend there.
I think we are all doing really well with communicating on this board and talking about the important stuff. If we keep it up, we will be able to command a great festival for everyone.
Thanks for all the input, and keep it up!
Chris

:oDont start arguing about time slots. No time slot have been given out yet an will not be for quite some time yet. Slot will not be give on a first come first severed bases Band slot will be give by leavle of invoment , flow of the festable and band member avalablity consideration not on who call shot gun first. In the end I get to decide the line up.No time slot will be give till we see all those that are interested in playing an weather we need to have music on sunday. Yes lack of orginazation in the pass has caused some band to get srewed Im sorry for that let try not to let that happen this year. that why were are tring to get orginize befor the begin of sept this year
yaa cant wait CHUCK

I'm a Chucks newbie, but I would like to suggest a day by day team of people to help run stuff and keep it smooth: a friday team, a saturday team, etc. Maybe two teams per day? One sound guy, one stage guy, etc. per team? That way, everyone can share some responsiblity, and stay sober for half a day, and one person won't get stuck with too much to do. Also I would like to suggest limiting the number of bands; planet 22, dr. naqleus, patchwork blu, borderless puzzle, alchemy - that's a lot of bands already, especially considering the midnight to dawn slot eats up a lot of time. if you did a 10-12, 12-2, 2-dawn, you'd have three huge chunks of quality time slots per night, with possible half-hour interludes for old favorites or acoustic acts. just a thought. (p22 at 2:22 on friday night?) also, how about some good old bluegrass (nothin like bluegrass in the daytime) to fill the daytime or other gaps, or jam sessions among the bands already headlining to fill time? I know chuck's during the day is beautiful, but most people show up at night to party, and most bands know this. no one's gonna want to play to an empty field. antibalas may have played at noon at bonnaroo, but they got paid, and i bet there were still more people at their set than at an empty chuck's. having 48 hours of music is a grand idea in theory, but a free, grassroots, organic event should try to be streamlined and sexy, not round and bloated, so no one gets screwed or gets uppity. Again, these are only suggestions. I'm psyched and glad people are chatting this stuff up. looking forward to volunteering and seeeing everyone at chucks!

shut your green F-U-C-K-I-N-G mouth and get ready to dig the toilet, newbie. Your opinion is useless; and to all those out there that think time is relavant at chucks: you must be sucking D_i_c_k out in the parking lot not to see the 8 bands that show up year after year after year at 9pm Saturday trying to play at 11 pm.
Sunday night music is needed, so all the crack smoking free loading hippies can detox enough by sundown to clean the place up. I say no Chucks unless their is a clean up mission.
Peace bitches..
ps hey newbie, have your DSL's ready I'll be looking for you this year

Hey man, if you don't have anything positive to say, why even post? We are trying to organize a festival on this board, not ignorantly insult people.
If you wanna have a potty mouth, then take your postings to the trash talk area of this board.

Newbie, you have some very good points, and all of which we are essentially trying to accomplish. For being new to Chucks, you sure seem to know what goes on there.
I think acoustic acts during the day would be great, and we have a bunch of acts already, bluegrass and otherwise. We will probably put acoustic acts between bands playing, so there is someting going on while bands are breaking down and setting up thier gear.
We are not trying to overbook Chuck's, however if there is band that wants to play and the only spot left is during the daytime, then I don't see why they would cry about that.
I want to make programs this year and have the line-up of activities known to the public well in advance so they can plan thier weekend accordingly.

Watch it "hey newbie" aka 70.105.179.216 aka "Borderless hynie holes" , I don't think people here appriciate your language nor your message.
I've really lifted a lot of restrictions on this board, from loosening the language filter to allowing anyone to READ, POST, and ENTER these fourm's.
I this continues I will be force into making everyone log in with a username and password, and guest will no longer be allowed to read anything.
Please dont ruin this for everyone.

Hey no parenting on this board!!!!!!!! Why don't we just get vince welnick to play chuck's and avoid having to listen to planet 22 play in g and g# for three hours in 9/6 and then jam in A Major in 4/4 for ten minutes. Then alchemy and Dr. Naqleus can have a four on the floor jam off playing back to back 11 1/2 hour sets to close out saturday and sunday. Peace out bitches Proud Member of www.degicank.com since 9-9-99 Bunk McCoy
