Here is what was being talked about on the new/old chuck's Message board:
Chris Cank Old post 5/17/05 at 11:56 AM Anyone interested in doing sound this year? I would like to try and keep it as professional as possible. This of course would require someone being there 'round the clock and being able to handle all the bands. It probably will require more than one person, and I would like to keep the sound guy separate from the stage manager.
That being said, anyone wanna be a stage manager?
Anyone got any more ideas? I figure we should try and talk and brainstorm now, so we can keep the chaos as little as possible during showtime.
-Chris
Aaron Old post Yesterday at 09:45 PM We at Dr. Naqleus have a reeediculous system that could be possibly used for the entire weekend. I will get back to you on specs, and a possible sound man may be Dave Barr..he is in California for a few weeks, but I will get back to you with more info soon.
Aaron Old post Today at 01:31 PM
What about Brewery Dave?
Bizarro world Aaron Old post Today at 01:34 PM
I just noticed that I am not the only aaron on the board, so since he was here first, I will now refer to myself as Bizarro world Aaron to eliminate any confusion, such as might be caused by the above post.
Chris Cank Old post Today at 03:38 PM Sounds like we have all we need among us. I have two 600 watt speakers and amp as well as board (what was used last year, and you guys have another killer system....then all we need are a few devoted sound guys that do not fear adversity, the chaotic dimension, or naked people trying to through cups of wine at the board.
If we get a siound team together, and plan it all out, I can't see there being any problems....but I'm sure we'll encounter a few along the way anyhow.
SO who would like to help with sound?

Please make sure the sound is not connected too closely to the lights, so the spun out bands can have all the lights out without the soundguys crying and pooping themselces.

So it looks like we have a few volunteers for sound board already, Squirrel, Dave Barr, and myself.
I will contact "Brewery Dave" to see if he is available for the weekend, anyone know how to contact him? I've been trying to get a hold of him for months. King Cotton Rounders still playing at Daniels?
Anyone else wanna do sound? If we divide it up into sections, it will be alot easier to manage. The hardest part is setting everything up for the band, the rest is pretty much set and forget it.

Yo, so I talked to Dave Barr today, and he said he is def down for running sound whenever he needs to. His only concern was about the board being in front of the stage. As last year, even being close to the stage, there was still wine/beer spilled on the board.
A simple fence/caution tape type deal-barrier around the board might be able to solve this problem.

Sure... a simple fence.

a simple fence....yes
you can put down 4 steaks...lets say 4 ft high surrounding the board. then use that orange construction plastic fencing and tie it down to the steaks....so it would be 3 sided
that fencing is super cheap...that set up would maybe cost $10 to protect a few hundred dollars worth of equipment.
or you could just use yello caution tape in multiple rows tied to the steaks.
simple.

thats a excellent idea. I would gladly work with any setup, but whenever possible its always more rockin to have a good proactive sound guy out front making you sound better.

A simple fence sounds like a good idea, as long as people can see it enough to not run into it, and as long as it isn't seen too much to attract the unwanted saucer eyed wine thrower.
In fact, it might even be a better idea to build something a little more solid. I'll talk to Chuck about seeing if he wouldn't mind a more permanent sound booth. It might be a little gungho, but then again in inclement weather, it sure would be nice!
Anyone know where to purchase a cheap snake that we could bury in the ground, thus relieving the wires problem of having the board behind the audience?

you could probably get a 100' 16 channel 4 send snake on ebay for about 200. Unless you can find one used or something, thats the cheapest way I know of.

Yo Board. Dave Barr checkin in. I down to run sound for whenev...I dont sleep anyway. I will no doubt help build any structure enabling an organized, effcient and dry sound booth (perhaps a gazebow??). I am sure Dr Naqleus's Peavey SP4Gs(2 stacks w/ 2 15's and a horn in each stack peaking at 2500w) can help out the sound scheme this year. I know they have a 16 channel board that could be used too.
I would personally like to see the amps mic-ed this year in order to enable a balanced experience of whats happening on stage to be had. last year i felt like people on each side of the stage was complaining they couldn't hear the other side cause the side they were on was too loud...
As well I might have a trailer mounted solar array to contribute to the power supply...im workin out the details on that. Let me know whats up...
oh and I know So many Dj's it makes my head spin...I myself have a knack for weaving together fun shit to listen too..I have a five night rave in my back pocket at all times...via Ipod...tracks from club slammin acid heads from around the globe...but as well have some dj gear an access to serious dj equipment.

I am going out to Chuck's on Wed and Thursday of this week to begin work on the soundbooth. I would like to have it somewhere between the firepit and stage. Does anyone know where to get a snake so we can make this possible? I was going to purchase one for the fest, but I am strapped for cash right now.
Does anyone know where to borrow a snake for the fest? I would like to bury it in the ground using a pvc pipe or heavy duty plastic.
