Chuck composed the following list that will comprise one side of a handout and the other side is a map of his farm with relevant sites marked. These will be given out at the farm.
SIMPLE DO’S AND DON’TS:
1. Pack it in, pack it out. Don’t leave your trash.
2. Help at the kitchen.
3. If you have medical training, please check in at the first aid tent.
4. All buildings are off limits.
5. Stay on my property. Don’t go across the road.
6. No fighting or bad vibes.
7. Please park in designated areas only.
8. No fire works.
9. Dogs are cool as long as they are friendly.
10. Please use the shitter.
11. No vending.
12. PLEASE DON’T DRINK AND DRIVE!!! Please stay the night.
* * * * * * * *
I know that most who read this message board know this stuff already, but it's good to spread it around as much as possible.
When I suggested to Chuck that he mention recyclables on his list, because I read here how people were planning on getting that organized, his response was, "I'll believe it when I see it." I hope that Chuck can be pleasantly surprised at how organized the clean-up is this year, recyclables included.

Yer askin' fer 55 gallon drums.
Do you have any idea what kind of drums you want?
They come in three standard types:
Steel open-top drums (with a lid that clamps down, usually heavy-duty steel, weigh 2X normal drum wieght)
Steel closed-top drums (the most common type, the top would need to be cut off)
Poly closed-top drums (like the steel drums, but plastic so they don't rust and are easier to cut)
In addition, it is important to state if you want them food-grade (only ever contained food before) or non-food grade (contained some chemical or another). If you just want them as trash barrels, then food grade is probably not that important.
Given sufficient notice, I can probably procur a couple of either poly or steel closed-top drums without much problem. Steel open-top drums might also be possible, but they are harder to find.
Note, however, that any "recyclables only" drum will collect as much trash as recyclables. They will still need to be sorted. Be sure you want to do that before you put the barrels out.
If you do want me to get some drums, email me at

and I will see what I can do.
Blessed Be

I think we need a mid spring Chucks farm planning committee meeting just to discuss trash, kitchen and shitter. The music will always be there as bands always want to play, and somebody will get the PA together either pro style like the last few years or last minute like the years before that.
What we need is an effective plan on how to contain trash to trash area(s) and recyclings to a spot to be sorted brown green plastic clear can etc.
Green trash bags for recycling and clear bags for trash (clear so people can see what's trash and whats recycling) should be our first line of defense to aid against trash and bottles/cans being combined. Barrels are good ideas but should be used sparingly. Ie compost barrel in kitchen area, trash barrel in kitchen area recycling bags in kitchen area should be discouraged as drunk people will leave rubbish anywhere near what appears to be a trash receptical.
Another note on barrles; when the stage is really kicking in high gear i think the folks could fill a barrel a minute with all the beer that is drank at the stage. who wants to dump out 240 plus barrles of beer bottles and cans during the peak hours of friday and saturday nights? stage announcements every once in a while would be nice too. we've talked about this in the past and the only bands to have said anything about packing out or even cleaning up personal sites and common areas have been alchemy and the man. that's almost ten years of chucks farm that I've atteneded and only two bands have addressed the issue.

I was wandering about setting up a hamburg/hotdog esque grill and selling those items. However, I read 'no vending'. What about selling that stuff at cost for those individuals who haven't brought cooking supplies etc.
