VORCAN paints Jef Lee Johnson at Ortlieb's Jazz Haus!
3rd and Poplar St ,
Philadelphia PA 19123
...some quotes.....
"he is god."-?uestlove(the ROOTS)
"If Miles was alive, I'd introduce you to him today!"-Bill COSBY
"He's one of the funkiest and baddest brothers i've heard on the guitar.
He brought a whole new life to my songs."-COMMON
"jef lee johnson is one of those rare musicians who "get's it". He knows how to make
the music take flight- "to go where no man has gone before." Besides being a truly
adventurous guitarist, he's also an outstanding composer, bass, and keyboard player,
bending the roots in blues and funk, with his love and understanding of jazz and latin
music. In other words, he's done his homework. Since I was first introduced to jef,
he has quickly become my favorite guitarist. He's one of a kind, with a distinct personal
and musical point of view. We Need More Like Him!!"-George DUKE
"I've now worked with the three greatest of all time; Alexis KORNER, Jimi HENDRIX,
and jef lee johnson."-Terry "SKIPPER" McVAY
"The most brilliant guitar player that ever lived."-Ronald SHANNON JACKSON

2639 Poplar Street
Philadelphia, PA 19130
Hailing from the underground scene of West Philly is Come Dionysus, an aggressive rock trio that aurally strips music to its most primal form. VORCAN paints Leana Song at Ortlieb's Jazz Haus!
3rd and Poplar St ,
Philadelphia PA 19123
"A Philadelphian Drum and Song Ensemble" A healthy blend of high-energy ritual drumming from Ghana, Nigeria, Cuba and Brazil has taken root in Philadelphia! Leana Song arranges and performs traditional and original drum and song compositions, praise-poems, and social dance music. Leana fills any venue with the sound of purity. Dressed in the white cloth of Obatala, each member of the ensemble serves the music and the audience with a respectful spirit and a strong, light heart. Leana Song has a rare and powerful instrumentation, consisting of a full battery of Ewe Drums, from Ghana, Bata Drums from Cuba, a Ghanaian Balfon called Gyil, and a chorus of singers playing bells and shakers. Leana Song bonds naturally with Western instruments, often featuring young and old masters, Jason Fraticelli (Bass), Elliot Levin (Flute), and Brian Marsella (Melodica), Patrick Hughes (Trumpet), and Larry Toft (Trombone)."
