Since I have been asked this question numerous time in person and via myspace, I may as well type it up here. Apparently, Chuck asked not to have us play this year. Apparently, we were blamed for the schedule getting pushed back last year. At the time we were supposed to play, the stage was not set up at all and there were huge equipment boxes everywhere, so we helped get everything situated. No big deal, that is how Chuck's always is. or so I thought.... Another possible reason for this backlash is that I told the Nightcrawlers to wait their turn when they tried to jump ahead of Bodega (who had driven from Philly) to play. The Nightcrawlers seemed like quite the whiners and were very rude and Prima Donnaish to my band and Bodega, so I am sure Chuck got an earful from them about me. There was a high probability that we wouldn't have played this year anyway, due to our members being scattered around at this point, but it is the principle of our band being "banned" from Chuck's that bothers me. Over the past few years, I have done everything at Chuck's from digging the shitpits, to setting up the stage, to cleaning up trash/ recycling, to planning the lineups and increasing the overall quality of bands, by adding people who have played at All Good (Bodega, MJ project). This is in addition to completely planning two fundraisers for Chuck's ill-fated County commissioner campaign. I had a great time putting a ton of work into Chuck's farm over the past few years and don't regret it, but to be treated this way afterwards isn't cool at all. I can be reached via our myspace page www.myspace.com/wearethemanFeel free to drop us a line.

For the record, The man is and was my favorite band at chucks farm some of my favorite memories of recent chuckstocks were rockin out to the funk they jammed. (they killed jungleboogie) i was really looking forward to their set this year... so, to conclude, if the man doesn't end up playing (which they aren't) i am going to get too wasted trying to create my own funk, and will likely puke, in and around, the kitchen area from ravebass

Well, if you're going to get trashed and puke in the kitchen, do us all a favor and try to hit the compost bucket!
;-)
[Or at least aim for the bushes!]
See you at Chuckstock. Sorry about the loss of The Man on the playlist.

I find it hard to believe anything will happen at daybreak, unless it's something manifested by people who have been up all night long.
It would be a great way to celebrate the quiet following the rave party turning off the noise. Planet 22 would deliver a great antidote to the techno vibes!
Good luck with the alternate stage location.
I wish I could say the kitchen will be up and cookin' at daybreak, but we all know that ain't gonna happen.
Come on by the Rainbow Sinkhole Kitchen for some kicked'up oatmeal, bacon, and coffee 'round mid-morning, though.
Blessed Be
Dr. Suitcase

We can always count on the crowd here for constructive ideas to improve the vibe.
Yo Dr. Suitcase, the planet 22 rythym section are old guys with kids now, we'll sleep in until 7:00 am and be grateful.
Phsyche! Sike! I think your assesment of up all night and then start jamming is more accurate. We'll be getting in late fri. We were hoping to go earlier in the night on the main stage, if this is a possibility please let us now how much time is being allocated to bands during prime time. If not you know we can handle the last spot of sat night. I love getting to the end of our set as the donuts arrive.
YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!

ATTENTION ANYONE NEW TO THIS BOARD:
The best thing to do is to click on "20 most recent post" at the bottom of the start page, that greatly simplifies communication and will keep you from getting into an argument with some beligerent poster from the 20th century...

Hello Chicken Cosmo, Unfortunetly Josh( Josh has a kid now) and I(Jess and I now have 2) will be without kids this weekend. We will be available to lend a hand or help enhance security for you if needed.
Maybe Chuck and Dr. Suitcase could help us come up with a strategy going into future years. With the party growing exponentially there is more action and more little kids each year. A designated safe zone would be nice. Of course some folks already have been herding kids near the spot where the degicank party tent was set up a few years ago. I know some of us are terrified of drunk drivers and drunk bottle throwers at the party, a very small minority but sometimes present crowd.
We went to see Phil and Phriends in Mass a few years ago, there was a kids area and every disoriented fool wandered right into it, they probably benefited from being in the safe zone too.
On the same subject, we should think about protocal for first aid. It is unwise to try to do it here online. I follow Chuck's lead, handling each problem as it arises and learning from it while anticipating any trouble.
Thank you Chuck!!!

Mr. degicank, I completely agree with you on all fronts! I'm sorry to hear that I won't get to see your beautiful children!! I'm glad I'll get to see at least some of you...the main reason I look forward to Chuck's is to see all of you who I rarely run in to anymore (well, except for Caleb who I seem to see quite often these days). In addition to asking people to bring garbage bags (as usual), it might be nice if people could donate some First Aid-type stuff to Chuck that he can keep on the property somewhere if needed. Do they usually have any first aid stuff at the kitchen? I don't know that there have been any major incidents in years past but I'm sure there have been minor ones we haven't heard about. Same goes for the parents & children - I agree, maybe there is a spot near the regular degicamp that would make for a nice sectioned-off kids area...at least a place where those who have children know they can go to find others! Something safe from the glass and garbage, etc...it might be a good area to use since the only people who tend to wander over there are the people camped there or their friends. Or maybe we're the oldest clan left on the lot and the rest of the partiers will be like huh? what kids? WE'RE the kids! It is one big playground, after all. I will try to put together a collection of some First Aid things to bring this weekend that Chuck can have. I'm bringing a van out again so we should have room to transport stuff (like extra wood) if anyone needs space to carry things out there. I prepped enough last year that I could've lived at Chuck's for a couple weeks...might as well do that again.

I'm just glad this message thread has strayed from talking about The Man and all the whiny arrogance that comes along with them. Go watch a real band play. I'm sure it will be something other than the same stale 10 songs.

How ballsy to cut down my band anonymously on the internet.
Quite simple really:
We had about 30 songs in two and a half years as a band.
We sounded nothing like TDS, nor did we try to.
We moved into a party house in State College that had been passed from band to band for around a decade.
Nice try though.

I'm sorry to hear we won't be jamming out to the Man. Don't engage with the hecklers here though. They love messing with people, I know because I used to be a heckler. I didn't realize that some people take internet posts as equal to speech. I found out it was true over time. If you give these guys a target they will swarm like sharks smelling blood in the water. They started attacking the ravers for a few days, but wanted to try to draw the Man fans (which are many) back into an argument. Don't give them the attention, they are just looking for a reaction. They probably even consider themselves friends of you, and think they are just messing around. I estimate a 85% chance things will get worse now since I spun in a little energy. Don't worry, try not to engage the hecklers and chill safe in the knowledge that 1000 people enjoyed the man at the farm in the past, and even more folks have recieved copies of degisamplers and back to school speacials with The Man playing. Are you going to be out there? I thought you moved to CA?
Take care, Joe

Dan, the sax player from the Man here, I just had to say that you're 100% right about the tDS comment, we actually almost renamed our band "one a day multi-vitamin" so your comment was not only insightful, but very deep and well thought out. So thanks for taking time from what I'm sure is a ridiculously busy schedule to grace us with your ageless wisdom.
