Hello! Is anyone out there coming to Degicon 7?
Sould we bring picnics, or make food there?
A big question is Band Order.
Of course each of the 5 bands wants to "Headline"
We'll probably go: 7:30-9 Open Mike Drinks and Dinner 9:00-10:30 Band 1 10:30-12:00 Band 2 12:00-1:30 Band 3 1:30-3:00 Band 4 3:00-5:30 Band 5
Should we start earlier, or give bands 1 hour sets? I don't know if all of the bands are confirmed yet. The Tweeter Center guys found out I was putting together shows again and tried to rattle the cages of some of the venues I contacted. I'm afraid they might have been messing with the bands, telling them we are a fly by night organization.

BANDS SHOULD CHECK IN HERE... SO FAR WE HAVE: [glow=red,2,300]-VW3 -BURGERTIME[/glow]
CHECKED IN...
When the other 3 bands have had someone check in here we can start debating the merits of different orders for the BAND LINE UP.

OK, 2 more bands to check in...
BURGERTIME THE VICTOR WILLIAM'S BAND THE DAILY SUPPLEMENT
have checked in.
We have 3 main things to sort out first: 1. Order of bands. I love all 5, that is why I picked them. 2. Time of sets, start end times. Maybe this should be first priority. 3. Equipment. I guess lets just start with needs...
I have Drums, Bass Amp, Guitar Amp available and probably sharable. We'de like to sign probably though. Does anyone have a PA for the cause? How about Steve, your Keyboard amp lets mics plug in, can we start there and upgrade up.

I can't imagine the audience would stick around for that many hours. Making dinnertime shorter as well as having bands play 60 or even 45 minute sets would probably be better since there will be a lot of them. No one likes playing to a passed out audience.
Also remember to allow 5-10 minutes between sets as well for bands to breakdown/set up, or the schedule would be pushed back even later; like if band A plays right up to 10:30, then band B sets up by 10:40 but still wants to play 90 minutes like band A, you see where this is headed.

We'll play any position, coach.
As for set time/length, 5 bands playing 90 minute sets sound like overkill... Better start earlier or make the sets shorter because people have shit to do the next day and will probably want to go home around 2 am or something.

forgot to ask a second ago: did you decide on a venue yet? If we're voting on it, the chinese/vietnamese restaurant sounds like a better idea than the cold warehouse in the 'hood... but if we gotta play there we'll be sure to bring our coats, and our gats.

Sounds good, I've got my AK.
The Vorcan guys will be anounceing final venue plans here asap...
Well, based on chatter, I move to have 50 minute sets, with 10 min change ups. Any objections, more/less minutes, etc. speak up now...
Bands will of course be gentlemen and stop at as close to the minute as possible.
Any seconds for the 50 min sets motion, or other # of minutes sets proposals?

I think the 50 minute idea is good. That puts the music from 9pm to 2am to accommodate people who don't plan on staying all night. If more people stick around, you could always have a collaborative jam session. I like the idea of a warehouse. It seems like it will give more freedom to the event. Where is this warehouse? How many people do you think are coming? Lots of people and space heaters can help keep the temp up. I'm not used to those east coast winter nights anymore.

joe, is there still a slot open for the punk-rock-soap-opera? we are still interested in playing, and we could bring along our soundboard/PA.....or we could talk to phonix dave and see if he'd like to provide the audio/visual element, if we're talking about packing a warehouse full of people it may be the way to go. i'll give him a call. i think NUMBER 1 concern, is pinning down the location, then we know the event is really happening, then we can plan and promote the hell out of it. VORCAN, what's the word? tDS also has a small PA that could work, as long as it's cool with them. another question, is this a free event, or will there be a charge at the door? paying a cover sucks, but there'll probably be expenses like the room fee, and then we might even be able to pay the bands...

Have you ever been to a Chuck's Farm? I can't imagine the audience would stick around for that many hours. Good points...
How long is the Opera now? I think it can fit if the bands are doin 50 min sets 9-2 start punk opera at 9 and push schedule back from there...
If we are at the ware house it cost 200$. I'm toying with the idea of tickets. If 100 people come and we sell 3$ tickets, that'll cover the hall and 20$ for each band's gas money. Ideally I like free though, but free means someelse is paying sometimes. Vorcan is going to let us know about the venue soon. Also Vorcan thought maybe some high rollers would through down a few bucks to cover the 200$ so we don't have to worry about tickets.
