Thanks to the feedback from Clary and company we'll be updating the videos section.
Feedback is needed to decide:
Do we need 2 seperate video pages? Or will just one do?
My vote is going with 1 page, the degicank.com video theater.
But we could have both the DDCVT and Degicank.com videos.
What do you think?
Needless to say we'll need content for the exciting new development here at degicank.com so please send your video submissions ASAP.
All approved submissions will receive a special prize and their video will be showcased on the degicank.com home page.

1 page!
I would recommend a design revamp, maybe have a floating frame where the media gets loaded into the player after you click on the icon. That way we can fit many more videos on one page and there less need for scrolling. I could come up with something possibly by the end of next week.

I finaly figured out how to get my fob files into a usable format, unfortunetely for the infidels here I'm using .wma's . I'm reading a book now called "the digital filmakers handbook" which is designed for low budget (starting at 20,000$) high quality films. I remeber a lot of it from taking Dr. Benton's class twice and watching the star wars bonus discs again and again and again and again, but there is also a data dvd with exercises and templetes for budgets storyboards scripts ect. (side note, the other book I'm reading is called "being digital" the back cover says its a "real eyeopener", and both books talk about video and rectangular vs. square pixels) One excercise in the dig. film handbk says to write a scenario while you are counting backwards from 100. They say what you write on the paper will be dream like because your ration mind is busy counting. I'm going to experiment with getting some previously shot footage into small enough (less than 250megs) files for "megaupload" but my goal is to start working out screneplay, story boards, and budget for a new "pat panang movie". Anyone interested in helping out or hindering start here, if there is a lot of interest maybe we will start a new thread. I thought I had a 100% on my chemistry test, it turns out I got 75%, it didn't effect my final grade anyway because I had an 85% going into it so I'm left with a "B" for chemistry for the spring semester, for the summer semester I'm doing independent learning: Pat Panang Movie, and a science magazine...(email science articles to degicank@gmail for consideration)

do we need a local player? We just stream the videos now.

Well, the local player would do a few things.
1) it would make it easier to manage many videos on page, by using one player and clicking on thumbnails.
2) the local player would allow the files not to be completely downloaded to other people's machines. This is a great way to prevent copywrite infringement.
Now that I brought up Copywrite infringement, this is a very serious thing that we need to address for the future of degicank. We can't screw around with this, because it is one thing to make open source media, but I am sure that many things that artists are donating to degicank are not supposed to be open sourced. If degicank deals only in open source media, then we must state this to the artist before they donate thier work so they know what they are getting into. This is a major decision for degicank. So much I am going to start a new reply about it.

Should DEGICANK copywrite its material?

Personally, I'm not worried about this currently.
Although I already consider all of our content copywrited already.
How we make that legit is another question we'll need to answer, but I think my brother will be more prepared to answer questions about this inevitable issue.

I am all for allowing unlimited downloading of all current material on degicank.com. I think it is well understood by all the individuals whom donate to us that we can not garantee that their product will not be duplicated.
I am willing to see the other side of this argument but you are going to have to provide me 3 good examples of content currently displayed here-in that should not be made readily available to the digital community.

oh, and the reason i am thinking that we forego the local player is simple. the temple with the fewest steps, is the temple most worshiped. ie. lets just get the update up and running. ( the simple approach has been working well thus far).
Bill, did I ever send you the new header for the video theatre?

I agree 100% Dr.
The temple with the escalator sounds good to me at this point.

video.google.com/videosearch?q=degicankI have never accepted material without making the following two points: 1. Copyrighting is the responsibility of the artists submitting material. 2. All "content" will be distributed by "degicank records" for "promotional consideration" and archival purposes. **************************************** The kind of promotion we do at DEGICANK RECORDS would be impossible for most bands to do on their own. Right now DEGICANK RECORDS is operating at approximately 3,000$ in the hole(materials alone), as soon as some money starts coming in, profits are to be distributed based on $/megabyte/person. This has been clearly stated in the past in writting on this site, and verbally to anyone who has been considered for inclusion to "The Econocank". I would like for all of the artists to be able to retire right away from their degicank revenues but sadly it will probably be well into this century before we start making serious profits. Any group/artist uncomfortable with this is immedietely "dropped" from the progect. I haven't heard any complaints yet, I am not sure how this works, but probably we will eventualy only provide links, like: stash.nugs.net/vault/bigriver.asp?file=1456&codec=so we won't be responsible for distributing(or hosting) the data in question. I'd appreciate any input on this matter...
