The Alchemy Grind
Alchemy Spice Company Newsletter, Issue 1, March 2004
Welcome to the Alchemy Newsletter
"There are things you do because they feel right & they make no sense & it may be the reason we are here: to love each other & to eat each other's food & say it was good." -- Brian Andreas, Story People artist.
We received a piece of folk art for Christmas from Maria Capets, and it had this inscription on it. There aren't too many presents that you get that seem to match so perfectly with where you're at in life. This one did just that.
Welcome the the first Alchemy Grind, a newsletter that we'll send out every now and then to tell you what we've been up to, and so hopefully we can share your food ideas with other like-minded people. Alchemy Spice Company started in October of 2003. We (Jessica Capets & Chris Chevalier) were interested in becoming involved in the local farmers' market selling a product we used daily -- freshly-ground spices. Since that time, we've built a strong base of retailers in the area, created a website, and hired a sales representative, Mike Gaither, who we're really excited about working with.
But sometimes we get carried away in teaching at the local University and working on our spices. Things can get stressful, as I'm sure you know. That's when its time to call up your friends and head to the kitchen.
We're glad to be here and look forward to the coming year. Be sure to check out our new website at
www.alchemyspicecompany.com. We've got a cookbook with recipes for all our products, and you can even buy our products on-line. This should make all your spice shopping easy. We'll be in touch with holiday & special event cooking ideas and any other news we think you'd enjoy. Thanks for all the support, and we look forward to a great year.
Alchemy Gains Web Presence
Though we’re farmers' market people, we couldn’t avoid the technology monster for long. So, we’re proud to announce the Alchemy website,
www.alchemyspicecompany.com.
Chris has worked hard. Late hours. Passionate outbursts. A tendinitis probability, for sure. Of course, as in grad school, this combination has yielded great results, including an ever-expanding cookbook to replace those thousands of little, white recipe cards. Please explore our website at your convenience.
It contains a complete product line with descriptions, ingredients, features, and use information; recipes for all blends; buying details and a shopping cart; links to articles about us and, in the future, to other like-minded websites; and more. And, if you wouldn’t mind, share the website with your friends. Thank you for your support of Alchemy
Unleash Your Culinary Prowess and Win Alchemy Products!
You know the routine, so we’ll skip the rigmarole and talk prizes. The winner of the first Alchemy Recipe Quest gets $20 worth of free products and free shipping. That’s right; dipping oil, bath salts, blends—any of these could be yours free of charge.
Details? All recipes must be original, and all entries may be used (in part or whole) by Alchemy to be published on the Alchemy website or even in a future cookbook. At least one Alchemy product must be used in all recipes; more than one is okay, of course. All entries should be emailed to Chris or I by April 1, 2004. Good cooking to you!
