Here's a spot for posts concerning the best jams Phish has performed.
I'll start by saying maybe 2-20-93 Set II SSPAC 6-20-04 Set II
Definitely the Reba from 2-20-93 7 Below from IT 12-29-97 theme from the bottom>fluffhead 12-31-99 Set II (for obvious reasons) 8-15-98 Bowie 6-17-04 momma>free

This thread could be hilarious or comprehensive.
Wenger gave me a spindle of 20 shows from fall 95. It would be difficult to even nominate a favorite show, much less a great jam. However,
12-14-95 Broome County Arena, Binghamton, NY
1: Suzy Greenberg, Llama, Horn, Foam, Makisupa Policeman, Split Open and Melt, Tela, Fog That Surrounds, My Sweet One, Frankenstein
2: The Curtain-> Tweezer-> Timber (Jerry)-> Tweezer, Keyboard Army, Halley's Comet*-> NICU#> Slave to the Traffic Light
E: Bold as Love
stands out as one of the best shows that i did not actually attend that fall. If i were to pick the best show i actually saw that fall, it might still be the Landover 11/22/05 Free (35 min?), although the argument could be made that i overrate that set at the expense of other epic shows. For the ongoing record, i did attend NYE that year, and have never found it to be as important as many fans seem to think. I always liked others from the run a lot more.

So I'm listening to pandora and this band Sugar Comes on and I remember owning the album "copper blue". I start thinking about other bands that might have gotten lost in the 90's frame of mind so I create a station for Teenage Fan Club. The fourth song in is "Crowd Control" off of round room. weird, since the song isn't very good (too trey bandish for me).

As Nic would say, "thanks for the memo: fall 97 owns your face"
That is a particularly good example though
If we're talking fall 97, you better absolutely mention Colorado:
11-17-97 McNichols Arena, Denver, CO 1: Tweezer, Reba, Train Song, Ghost, Fire 2: Down With Disease-> Oblivious Fool-> Johnny B. Goode-> Space Jam-> Jesus Just Left Chicago, When the Circus Comes, You Enjoy Myself
The Ghost is the best of of all time, with few competitors (IT, etc). This is one of those shows that is simultaniously over-popular, while also being underknown. Lots of folks i talk to have never heard it. I think they released it as a Live Phish disc. If you need to get 'back into' phish, ask quiggly or Steve Olker to send you a copy (internet) of this one. The Ghost, the Tweezer, The Reba...everything about this show is the genuine stuff of legend.
