Degicank.com FTP Guide
degicank.com/anonymous/degicankftp.htm
FTP is a little tricky to get working. In this guide we will describe 2 methods of uploading your content to the anonymous degicank.com FTP account.
FTP stands for File Transfer Protocol. This is how you get files from your computer to the World Wide Web so you can easily share it with the rest of the world.
FTP Credentials and setup information:
FTP Address / Hostname:
ftp.degicank.com
Username:
anon@degicank.com
Password:
Anon
In a webbrowser with FTP support / windows explorer
anon:anon@ftp.degicank.com
There are 2 ways I’m going to describe how to FTP here. One the recommend method is using a fancy FTP client that makes file transfers really easy and fast but requires you download and install software. The other method is just using the windows explorer and is really simple to setup and doesn’t require the installation of software but is a pain to use.
Recommended Method:
Using a FTP client makes FTP’ing really simple.
Degicank.com recommed’s Filezilla FTP client. A FTP client is a way to connect to a FTP server. Filezilla is a free open soure FTP client. Degicank.com supports open source software.
Filezilla is available here:
filezilla.sourceforge.net
Download Link For Windows
Here’s what Filezilla looks like after you download and install it:
To setup a FTP server, click the file menu and select site manager.
That will bring up a screen similar to this:
This is how we’ll setup our FTP server.
1)Click new site.
2)Enter hostname “ftp.degicank.com” (no quotes!)
3)Username is “anon@degicank.com” (no quotes!)
Notes:
In my filezilla setup, you cannot save the password, but in yours you may be able to. This is dependant upon how you configure the software.
You may need to change the login type from anonymous to normal to be allowed to enter the username and password.
If you cannot enter the password don’t worry it will allow you to enter it later, after you connect.
Once you have the FTP server setup, you can click save and exit and then go ahead and connect.
To connect go back into the site manager, select the server you just added and click connect.
Once your connected you will be able to drag files from the left side (your computer) and drop them on the right side of the window (the server).
The other way:
Windows explorer includes a FTP client built into the windows explorer. Goto the windows explorer (right click the start menu and click explore).
This will being up your windows explorer:
In the address bar type in ftp.degicank.com/ and hit enter.
If everything is working correctly it should prompt you for a username and password.
Username:
anon@degicank.com
Password:
Anon
If you get connected, you should see the contents of the FTP server.
Now for the tricky part, you’ll need to drag and drop the file you want to put onto the server now. From my expirence, the best way to do this is to open another windows explorer up and drag the file from there into the other explorer window you just opened. Otherwise it will keep asking you for your password over and over again and or won’t transfer the files.
Once you upload the file you want to notify me ASAP by emailing me at captaingeek@gmail.com or by calling the DEG I CANK TECH SUPPORT HOTLINE : 1-401-526-0040 so I can secure your files.
