Howdy, Folks
If I gots anything to say about it, the Rainbow Kitchen at the Sinkhole will be up again this coming Harvest Festival Oct 6 - 8th.
I plan on being there mid-Friday through Saturday evening, and bringing some fine food to serve up to all folks.
I welcome any additional donations, of food, firewood, or help.
The products of the kitchen will, of course, be free, as it should be.
Currently the only definate item on the menu is some kickin' oatmeal for Saturday breakfast, but who knows what will manifest for dinners and lunches!
We got big pots and a HUGE wok to work with, here.
Come help fill them, and then empty them!
Blessed Be
Dr. Suitcase

let's get a truckload of fuel just for the kitchen. the last thing you want at chucks is rain with no food!!!! i don't think it will pour but if it does the kitchen becomes a hangout and we want it to be warm and somewhat dry for everyone anyways.
if anyone has any camp lamps for loan to the kitchen area let chcuk or dr suitcase know before sundown 4 days and counting!!

A truckload of firewood would be most welcome.
Current weather expectations for the weekend is clear and sunny, dry, and colder than a Christian's tit, especially Friday night. I hope all you hippies are bringing extra blankets and/or folks to share them!
Early Friday needs also include running / repairing the water line down to the sinkhole, locating and cleaning the big stainless pots and lids, and putting up tarps. Tarps are not necessary if it doesn't rain (doublecheck Thurs night to see what the forcast is).
I have some light sources (Coleman lantern, oil lamp, candles, Tiki torches) but I plan on leaving Sat night before midnight, so alternate light will be needed Sat night. I can leave the candles, at least.
Stir-fry of vegetables with either potatoes or pasta is probably on the menu. I can bring peppers and onions.
See y'all Friday!
Blessed Be

a couple of us would like to help with the plumbing line later friday afternoon. i was wondering if you knew what supplies we might need, like how much pipe and what not.

As it turns out, I managed to find everything I needed to get the water run.
Most of the pipe needed was left over from the last two or three years.
This year there was less, though, as Chuck had run over it a few times and parts of it were too cut up/mangled to use.
I have found that a piece of 1 inch PVC pipe works well as a sleeve to join two 3/4 inch pipes. Just cut all the pieces cleanly, force the two 3/4 inch pipes into either end of the piece of 1 inch pipe (at least 4 inches long), then Duct tape everything to hold it.
This year I had to scrounge some regular hose and a reducer/converter to hose thread (which was on the old drink cooler in the barn). We ended up having a nozzle on the end of the hose, at the sink, and we could even close the pipe and it didn't burst.
Wow! No leaks and it held full pressure!
It would be very helpfull for next year if the pipe could be taken up and put where it won't be run over, now before it gets run over again.
Is there going to be a further clean-up party at Chucks this fall?
Blessed Be

Howdy, folks
To answer the idea of a buried water line first:
No, I don't think it's worth the investment. The only time water runs to the kitchen is during Chuckstock. Odds are, unless it was <really> buried (3 feet down minimum) Chuck would end up cutting it with the plow anyway.
Ever try to dig a trench 3 feet deep X at least 1000 feet long?
We would still be digging at the mythical <trump of doom> signallng Ragnarok.
Runing the water isn't that bad, as long as one doesn't have to splice together pieces that were mangled by a plow.
As for that mention of some bass amp Sunday morning. Ya got's me confused wit' sum udder bloke. I was outta there by 11pm Saturday.
Blessed Be
Dr. Suitcase
