Hey everyone.
I have met some of you planet 22 types at Chucks before and some at McCormick (where I now live with my band, "The Man." )
But enough about me.......
I ran sound and lights for the first time at chucks last night and I set up things a bit differently.
Since it was raining early in the evening, I set up all things electronic INSIDE the bus.
The speakers were laid on their sides, and put at the same height as the bus windows, which of course, were open. One was put on the bed and I built a little makeshift cinderblock stand for the other.
The power amp and mixer were originally set up on the bed, but I eventually had to take the mixer out, because people didn't have long enough cords to run them inside.
I used two sound sensitive lights angles up a bit and put them in the windows and Matt Keenan helped by bringing his light controllers. An colorchanging Orb was also placed in the hole in the center of the bus.
I brought an extra power mixer and our PA speakers to use, but since the sound was coming from behind us, I don't think monitors are necessary with this set-up.
People said the sound was good and Chuck and Jack are down with continuing to do it this way.
I just wanted to pass on this info and see what you folks think, since there are a lot more people who know sound better than I do.
thanks and please let me know what you all think,
Ben
PS An certain appliance friend of everyone's will be making a triumphant return at the big chucks next month.

At some point, some band is going to hit the right frequency and that bus is going straight to space.
What band is gonna make that happen?
Someone should.

My friend, the whole internal truth of Chuck's place is creativity and passion and taking risks...and I think if you want to call that ghetto, lets all be mother f_ing ghetto.

the bus is the bomb. would be cool to clear it out and setup a cool backstage area there. well except the bee that chased us a few years back.

That "ghetto" setup only fedback once and it was playing an ipod at the time. It also sounded great and all equipment was protected from the rain.
The bus is actually relatively cleared out. i spent a bunch of time cleaning and throwing shit out last time.
I recommend looking under the mattress at the rodent burrow in the foam..... a personal favorite.

is the bus in any shape for a green room for bands?
I know I have pesonally used it as such when not in any shape to do so, this may or may not have led to temporary power loss on stage!!
two days!!

With about an hour's worth of work, it could be made useable. I already hauled a shitload of stuff out of it and from around it. That was a few weeks ago though...... I don't know what goes on out there.......
