Howdy, Folks
Plans are starting to come together around the Rainbow Kitchen in the Sinkhole.
The kitchen is going to deviate from standard Rainbow in that there will be a fair amount of meat cooked. This is fair warning to you vegans out there!!! I am already planning on bringing a few slabs of pig to toss on the fire, I know some folks like to bring Bambi (I always appreciate some fine Bambi on da grill!) and who knows what else will manifest.
I do plan on a veg main course. Some kind of stir fry with rice for Friday evening and some kind of fried potatoes for Sat afternoon are likely. And some fine oatmeal with lots of brown sugar and fruit tossed in for breakfast.
We will see what my Freegan skills can score for other eats!
Primary need is always firewood. I will see if I can score some to bring, but more will always be needed, for sure!
Help Friday around noon in finding, installing, and starting the water line to the kitchen would be greatly appreciated, too!
See you noonish on Friday!

This year tops all previous years for absolute and utter chaos, and lack of any substantial rainbow energy. Friday I had a nice kitchen set up, gear and supplies to do two main meals and breakfast. I did a stir-fry (vegetables and rice, a little spicy) and cooked some ribs for dinner Friday. Noone was around during most of the cooking prep time, and between 7pm (when I was done cooking and food was up) and midnight almost none of the stirfry was eaten. The next morning, I was up at 6am and went down to the kitchen to get things started for breakfast and coffee. I discovered that someone (several someones, actually) had torn the kitchen totally to shreds. The prep table (three skids and a top plywood) was knocked down and scattered. The supplies were scattered, thrown all around, and much of it was smashed or dumped out. The rest of my ribs were tossed on the grill to burn, left partially cooked and rotting the next morning. The table top (an old door) for the serving/bliss table was ripped into little pieces all over the kitchen. All the utensils were dumped on the ground, and about half of them were busted and smashed. My cutting board was tossed far away or burned. I think a substantial contributing factor to the destruction was the fact that there was an all-night rave-party playing loud techno-music on the other side of the sinkhole. I think it brought in the X, meth and crack energy (I know that those drugs were present at Chuck's this year because I heard lots of people talking about them) to the sinkhole. I did not cook brunch or linner Saturday. Next year I am not going to do the kitchen at Chuck's. f***'em. I don't see the reason in bringing all these supplies if all these assholes are going to do is shit on them!
Yea, I'm pissed off!

damn man, I'm really sorry to hear about the negativity. I didn't arrive until Saturday evening and was wondering why the kitchen was missing.
As for the techno babble, you're not the only one who dissapproved. I walked through around 5am on the way back to my tent to see nothing but spaced out zombies standing around playing with glowsticks.
Quote of the weekend goes to the dude who exclaimed after emerging from his tent on Sunday: "YOU'RE f***ING TECHNO KEPT ME UP ALL NIGHT ASSHOLES"

Hey dude I feel for you. This is the 3rd year my woman and I came to Chuck's. we are mid 40's age group. we never ate the food there (didn't really catch on until last year)but were going to check it out this year. So, we went down Friday night somewhere around midnight or later to check out the kitchen and it was a mess. I can't imagine what happened after we left. Just a shame and you should be pissed. I think Chuck made a bad choice on the Tech-no and the crowd it brings. Personally I think we only need one stage there. We were i guess camped right across from the sinkhole and all we heard until sun up. Not exactly the peace, quiet and calmness we usually get there by the campsite. Plus I enjoyed being able to hear the music from the bands while at the camp eating etc.... Overall we made the best of it and had a great time OH! we grabbed 2 apples Friday night and they were awesome so thanks to you dude for your thoughts and effort. Maybe we can work something out for next year in the form of security for the food. the woman and I are interested in helping you keep the kitchen alive. You PM me with an e-mail addy so we can chat about it. right now I'm waiting for the admin to approve alien camper account here Peace

Hey man i am sorry about your things. I saw a hit and run.
I don't know if there will be a kitchen, but i am bringing my contribution for sure. truth is that by friday and saturday i intend to put my personal things somewhere secure. It always gets wild at night.
What is sad is that for the time i was really up I really liked the techno, THEN IT NEVER STOPPED. maybe like 2 hours of techno and then shut the shit DOWN.
Seriously did get a lot out of the chillout stuff they were playing at sundown. More like acid jazz really, not abrasive at all. We were having a picnic by the sunflowers and the bassline was ill.
Anyway, just nostalgic, cant wait for 08!!!
see you guys there
btw, i am never camping at the bottom of the road again! headlights and traffic the whole time! he should build a road going out for the douchebags that clog the road at night.

I am still interested in getting more calm, kind, rainbow love energy at Chuck's Sunflower Farm Harvest Fest, to keep the kitchen happening and counteract the crazed speedfreak technocrap energy that seems to be prevalent these days.
I plan on being at the Fest this year, but I'm still pissed off about last year.
If I was convinced that we could get a "night crew" that is willing to treat the supplies and gear with respect, I might be more enthused about the kitchen scene.
I'm not a night owl, and I can't stay up all night long. It's just not in me.
Drop me a line by email if you want to converse further about organizing something.
Blessed Be
Dr. Suitcase
PS. No word about the "Spring Fling". It's not April anymore, so I guess it didn't happen.
