Ok folks... let's take a step back. Phil and Dave (the sound guys from last year) ARE running sound for the show. We have been in CONSTANT contact with chuck and he has our FULL support. As far as people "volenteering to run sound" that is not needed. We will be having several $1000's of equipment coming in just under 10, 000 watts! Any help with setting up, or with bands, or with helping bands with their gear is VERY WELCOME... however NO ONE gets to touch any of the house sound equipment w/o going trough Phil or Dave. We understand that everyone is putting in a great effort to help and we are not sending negative vibes... however we were very discourage my many of the postings on this board. No one can fathom how hard it is to run sound for 3 days straight... and any sound/band issues last year were due to lack of planning ahead of time. Dave and I have been planning the house sound since last year and that is COMPLETELY under control. As far as the schedule goes that is still being worked out. If anyone would like to post the most recent proposed schedule that would be VERY helpful. In addition we will be having a band registration! We hope to have schedule issues worked out a head of time but for the ease of setup and flow, each band is asked to come to the sound booth and "register" when they first get to Chuck's. This will give us (the sound guys) a chance to speak briefly with each band to see what they will need and what instruments they have. Thank you and we are looking forward to the biggest and best Chuck's farm to date. All questions and concerns should be direct to Dave Barr 814-883-8800. Any technical Q's can be passed along to me through him! Thanks again everyone!!

Sound guys,
Don't puss out like every other big shot who brings thier toys to chucks and screws the 4am and after bands because they have to go to sleep and they don't want anyone touching their unneeded gear. Last year it sound liked an aids infested techno rave the bass was so distorted; not one recording was worth the mini disc it was burned on. it's great to have ten thousand watts if you're at beaver stadium but at chucks a system that big sounds like garbage. i hope the time is taken to resolve the super bass issue from last year; the distortion of everything else can be taken care of by not setting the mains full blast.
lets also not confuse what a sound guy does and what the stage manager does. If the sound guys have any bands not listed in the chucks farm schedule posted by Chris Kelleher please notify him. This year will be great just lets not botch the sound again.

listen from what i understand the schedule creation here was pre approved by Chuck and all of the members have been instructed by Chuck that the schedule will be determined on this message board. no band registration needed by you Dave, its already being organized here. only registration that would be helpful will be the Dave's and the sound guys get registered on this message board. Chuck wants everything organized this year a little better then last. please lets not start getting cranky at 1AM when the party is just starting. we are NOT shutting music down that early like what has happened by the sound person at other places.

what's the point of all the sniping over what really is just a large party? i know a huge amount of work goes into it, but come on dudes, try keeping it in perspective- good times, good music, etc. i wasn't there last year to hear the sound system, but i will agree that the smallish systems used in years past mostly had excellent sound, and the previous poster, tho crude, had a point about wattage needed for Chucks. how about all bands register with both stage manager and sound guys?? like: yo, we're here, we were told we play at whatever time, we need X mics, etc then stage manager and sound guys know whose there and what they need and when approx. they will play...?? i know how much you guys love to argue over this stuff, so have fun and all, just keep the insults and name-calling to a minimum so you don't come off like a bunch of douchebags like you usually do. oops. broke my own rule. ha ha.

Sorry guys I was done posting but just to clear one thing up... there WILL be sound until 7am each day according to chris's schedule. I don't know why pp. keep posting stuff about stopping the sound "early." I'm pretty sure I was up until 5am friday night running sound last year but anyway.... the plan is (according to schedule provided): Sound from 7pm-7am (12hrs) each day... 1hr (7am-8am) for "cool down" (of equipment) and then "full power down" from 8am until at least sometime in the late afternoon... (2 or whatever). That should keep the equipment, and everyone else happy. Since there are no bands scheduled after 7am or before 5pm, the rest is to MY descretion... happy posting, and yes... lets try to keep it civil.. this is about fun!

Have no fear, The proper precautionary measures will be in place to insure and ensure everyone leaves chucks with a smile. The gear will be there longer than the campers, for my personal entertainments sake- meaning you may very well see me throwing tracks at the system after all the bands have played through monday morning, I'll be the one doin the dosy dough with an inbreed 30 something amish honey drinking red wine from the bottle. There will be no PUSSING out on the 4am band who wants to wire 26 channels+ at 7am, there will be no bass distortion, there will be no treble distortion, nor will there be cinged capacitors in my sound equipment. I love playing with my expensive toys, especially so. Farms are the best place to do it actually, this I have determined having paid several thousands of dollars in noise violation fines in the borrough. For the record, I recall being told to turn the music down at 7:45am last year by someone fearing the amish would call the cops. While questioning whether the Amish even have phones to call the cops, they actually clip-clopped by on their way to church. As for the AIDS infested rave situation... pass the dirty syringe and get out your condoms, cause the driving beat intrinsic to "rave" music is how dancing under a full moon round a fire eating mind altering substances in fields in commomration of a harvest all began, way back before what we, today, call "music" was even conceivable. and what were you using to record ( mic wise ) I am aswell a live show recording connoisseur, I'll gladly help you get a worthwhile recording...that is in my job description right under taker-of-all-shit-from-anyone-with-an-opinion title.

I was told the play will be an hour and a half long. I do not know what they will need as far as sound goes, but they shouldn't need too much, if anything at all.
I will get back to you soon about the backline for all the bands
